Opening Up About Teen Depression

My friend, Alex Pinaretta, took a courageous step speaking up about his experience with depression. Alex is 18 years old and attends the Sheridan College campus in Oakville, Ontario; for a school project, Alex filmed a video called "Living with Depression".

"Living with Depression" is taken from Alex's own perspective as a teen handling depression and its many challenges. Alex is currently filming videos on many different topics ranging from mental health to lighter topics involving different funny challenges he creates with his friends. You can find Alex on YouTube under the name Anderrvlogs.

Here are Alex's thoughts on why he made the video "Living with Depression":

"I made the video on depression because I was recently diagnosed and I wanted to show my friends and family what I was going through on a daily basis. I knew that my message could only be presented through a video. People need to look at depression in the same way they look at a broken leg; when someone is depressed there are chemical imbalances in the brain that the victim cannot avoid."

Thankyou Alex for sharing your story without shame and with such honesty.
