Be True and Do You

The world is changing! Every day, more and more people are redefining what it means to “live a good life”. Gone are the days that we have to work 9 to 5 in a cubicle to provide for ourselves and our families. It’s truly the age of doing whatever it is you want to do with your life. Travel bloggers, yoga teachers, computer programmers… the list goes on of what the new normal here is in North America. So why do we continue to feel pressure from school, from our parents, from society to make the most money, drive the nicest cars and have all the nicest things?

I don’t think I ever had an epiphany, but sometime in the last year I finally came to this realization. Really sit down and think about this: We truly only have this one life to live, so you’d better spend it doing exactly what makes you happy. Spend it surrounded by people who lift you up - not bring you down! Spend it travelling, learning and trying new things! Spend it leaving a positive mark everywhere you go.

At the end of the day, the only person you’re truly accountable towards is yourself. The external pressures we feel on any given day will seem meaningless as time goes by. Basically, what I’m saying is chill out and do you.

Evaluate yourself.

What do you want?

But wait… is that what you want, or what you think is expected of you?

The closer we get to understanding the difference between the two, the more secure and happy we’ll feel within ourselves.

Don’t forget: Happiness is a choice, not a result.

Be true to yourself, and it will all work out, I promise.
